Ekofire 2050 Coal Effect Decorative Gas Fire
This tapered inset gas fire has been purpose designed for installation into existing solid fuel grates where a chair brick is in place. An ideal replacement for your solid fuel fire, whilst being able to maintain the visual effect. The optional mains-free Ultrasonic remote control allows you to adjust the flame height from the comfort of your armchair.
It may only be used with one of the approved fire fronts as these have been tested with the fire to ensure sufficient air flow is available to enable the oxygen depletion sensor to function correctly.
A simple to use, rotary valve with integral piezo ignition is fitted below the fire tray and this is accessible via the dummy ash pan cover of the cast front.
No heat output is specified for these fires as this is entirely dependent on the fire back and flue performance.
However, on average you might enjoy something in the region of 1.25kW of radiant warmth.
Using the flame type lever located below the fire tray, you can choose anything between the yellow, coal type, flames or the hotter, blue, coke type flames
Flue requirements:
Brick or stone flue with 225mm X 225mm minimum or 175mm internal diameter.
Twin walled flue manufactured to BS715 with a minimum internal diameter of 175mm.
Lined brick or stone flue with a minimum internal diameter of 175mm (7")
Chimneys should be swept prior to installation and any combustible material removed from the fire opening.
All flues must be properly installed having a minimum effective height of 3 metres.
Installation:
The fire must be installed by a qualified installer in accordance with the installation instructions.
A suitable Milner style chair brick is required. Clearance above the fire opening to a combustible shelf, which has a projection not more than 150mm (6"), must be at least 835mm (33") above the hearths top surface. For a deeper combustible shelf you will need to increase this clearance (see instructions).
Ventilation:
Purpose provided ventilation (air brick) is not normally required. However, the installer must take account of any other appliance fitted in the same room or space and the result of the spillage test. For Republic of Ireland (ROI) ventilation should be provided in accordance with IS813, ICP3, and IS327.
Fireplace requirements:
A non-combustible fireplace having a minimum opening between 400mm and 440mm wide, and between 550mm and 575mm high. The traditional 16" by 22" opening is suitable.
The required depth from the rear surface of the chair brick to the vertical plane of the fire opening is 220mm. No functional part of the fire tray may protrude forward of the vertical plane of the fire opening.
A non-combustible hearth must extend a minimum of 300mm (12") in front of the live part of the fire bed and have a minimum width of 700mm (27.6"). The hearths top surface should be 50mm (2") above the level of the surrounding floor or have a fixed fender of the same height around its perimeter.
WARNING:
As with any open fire, a fixed fire guard should be used when the fire is used in the presence of pets, children, the elderly or the infirm.
